Long considered one of Nantucket's 'not to be missed' dining experiences, American Seasons was founded in 1988 on the ideals of culinary great James Beard: to serve regional cuisine to promote the diversity of American cooking and celebrating small American farmers through the choice of local ingredients. A charming venue for a one-of-a-kind event, American Seasons is a short walk from downtown Nantucket and is surrounded by B&Bs and within walking distance of the island's largest hotel, the White Elephant. American Seasons has been consistently recognized for outstanding cuisine, wine and service, receiving Boston magazine's "Best of Boston" award for Best Romantic Nantucket Restaurant in 2011, Best Wine List in 2010, Best Modern Restaurant, Nantucket in 2007, Best Restaurant, General Excellence, Nantucket, in 2006 and Best Romantic Restaurant, Nantucket in 2005. American Seasons also received Santé magazine's 2010 Restaurant Award, recognizing excellence in restaurant food, wine, spirits and service hospitality and the restaurant's all-American wine list was honored with the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for fifteen consecutive years (1996–2010) and the Wine Enthusiast Award of Unique Distinction (2003-2008).
