Lala Rokh is truly a doorway to another world. Named after an epic romance by the 19th century poet Thomas Moore, "Lala Rokh," which translates to "Tulip Cheeks," tells the story of a beautiful young princess on a journey of love and discovery and is regarded by many as the epitome of European fantasies about the East. Lala Rokh's décor, which includes a museum-quality collection of Persian miniatures from the 14th to the 16th century, calligraphy from the 8th to the 16th century, as well as European maps and views of the region from the 16th to the 19th century, adds to the atmosphere of romance. Persian cuisine, as it was prepared in the homes of sibling proprietors Azita-Bina Seibel and Babak Bina, is unique in its authenticity and preparation and one of the only restaurants of its kind in the United States.
